The Florian Wirtz transfer saga appear to be coming to an end.

I say ‘appears’ because it’s not over until the fat lady sings and, while it seems to just be a case of putting a pen in the lad’s hand, passing him a red home shirt and making him walk slowly around the trophy room, we are not there just yet.

I want to talk about the role journalists like Fabrizio Romano play in these transfer stories. I name him in particular because he seems to get the lion’s share of abuse from fans of many persuasions across social media.
