Midsummer Madness
We're one month into the close season and the transfer news is getting repetitive.
Is everyone else sick of the ‘will he, won’t he’ debacle of Yan Diomande’s proposed move to Liverpool? Despite the player making it clear that he want to ignore the transfer rumours while he focuses on the World Cup, the football press (and quite probably his agent) has other plans and keep churning out a new angle on what is becoming a daily basis.
The latest update is that Real Madrid have now also entered the race as valuation spirals, while Liverpool look for a cheaper alternative. This story is going to keep on running until Ivory Coast are knocked out of the World Cup and Diomande is dragged off the world stage, kicking and screaming. In the meantime, let the gossip continue.

Liverpool start to return for pre-season preparations in two weeks time. The World Cup finishes in three then we head back to USA for friendlies against Sunderland in Nashville, Wrexham in New York and Leeds United in Chicago. It’ll be a staggered return to action, with World Cup players probably not taking any part on the first couple of games.
However, it will give us the first opportunity to see how Andoni Iraola wants the Reds to be playing in the season ahead and also the chance to put one or two unwanted squad members in the shop window. We can’t wait to get back to proper football.
